Supervising your Teaching Assistant

Observation and Assessments – the RIGHT way!

This workshop will discuss the best practices of observations and assessment of young children, how to write an anecdotal record and ideas for tracking children’s ongoing development.
Professionalism and Ethics for Administrators
Using the Code of Ethical Conduct and its supplement for program administrators, program administrators can learn more about the content, structure, and usefulness of the Code, along with examining real-world scenarios of ethical dilemmas that they face in the field. Core Competency: Professionalism & Ethics.

Curriculum & Guidance

De-escalating the Power Struggle
When children dig in their heels, adults can feel conflicted – do I stand my ground or keep the peace? In this workshop, teachers and parents can learn about why power struggles occur and how to de-escalate the conflicts in the heat of the moment. Core Competency: Responsive Interactions and Guidance
Developmentally Appropriate Guidance in the Early Childhood Classroom
Every teacher’s ultimate goal for children is self-regulation and self-control.  This workshop breaks down the actions that can support that goal and how to shape children’s behavior.  It includes discussions of tough issues such as using timeout, natural and logical consequences, and more. Core Competency: Responsive Interactions and Guidance
Autumn-Themed/Spring-Themed Activities for Children 3 to 5 years
In this workshop, teachers learn about the best practices in selecting activities with an emphasis on children learning about the natural world around them.  The activities are geared for hands-on, sensory exploration, and active/gross motor ideas indoors or out, with free and inexpensive materials.  Also, teachers learn how to structure the natural materials in different learning centers for a multi-modal learning experience.  No construction paper crafts or adult-made art projects here. Core Competency: Learning Environments, Planning Framework, Curriculum, and Standards
Emergent Curriculum – A Project Approach in the Classroom
As a director, are you seeing the same tired lesson plans from your teachers, year after year?  In this training, teachers are challenged to embrace the children’s interests and create a curriculum around them.  This workshop is hands-on and can shed light on the possibilities of a project approach in the early childhood classroom. Core Competency: Learning Environments, Planning Framework, Curriculum, and Standards
Supervision of Children
Based on Child Care Licensing Standards, this training educates your teachers on the standards and expectations for supervision in the early childhood classroom.  We share the most common citations and brainstorm solutions based on your program needs. This seminar will open your eyes to the common mistakes in the areas of supervision, guidance, teacher-child interaction, and health and safety practices. Core Competency: Health, Safety and Nutrition

Core Competency: Health, Safety and Nutrition
